Aplang was quoted to have said he had planned it 10 years ago to disgrace his supp3 bride on their wedding day. An eye witness said the groom gave shocking answer to the pastor when asked if he Aplang would take Judith as his bride, which he replied No.

Question of of the day:

What your take on this matter

There is a lot of false information around. These are the facts.

πŸ”’ People of all ages CAN be infected by the coronavirus. Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.

❄️ Cold weather and snow CANNOT kill the coronavirus.

☀️ The coronavirus CAN be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates

🦟 The coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites.

🐢 There is NO evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can transmit the coronavirus.

πŸ›€ Taking a hot bath DOES NOT prevent the coronavirus

πŸ’¨ Hand dryers are NOT effective in killing the coronavirus

🟣 Ultraviolet light SHOULD NOT be used for sterilization and can cause skin irritation

🌑️ Thermal scanners CAN detect if people have a fever but CANNOT detect whether or not someone has the coronavirus

πŸ’¦ Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body WILL NOT kill viruses that have already entered your body

πŸ’‰ Vaccines against pneumonia, such as pneumococcal vaccine and _Haemophilus influenzae_ type b (Hib) vaccine, DO NOT provide protection against the coronavirus.

πŸ‘ƒ There is NO evidence that regularly rinsing the nose with saline has protected people from infection with the coronavirus.

πŸ§„ Garlic is healthy but there is NO evidence from the current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from the coronavirus.

πŸ’Š Antibiotics DO NOT work against viruses, antibiotics only work against bacteria.

πŸ§ͺ To date, there is NO specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the coronavirus.

Coronavirus and the football world.

The global pandemic has stopped leagues all around the world and the Super League outfit have taken drastic steps to stem the financial bleeding

Former Arsenal duo Johan Djourou and Alexandre Song are among nine players sacked by Swiss club FC Sion for refusing to take an unemployment settlement in light of the coronavirus.
The entire squad was contacted on social messaging service WhatsApp by president Christian Constantin on Tuesday. Constantin’s message asked the players to take a "technical unemployment" deal which would see them receive a payment of around 9600 Swiss francs - an amount that is equivalent to 80% of the legal monthly salary in Switzerland.
The players were given until noon on Wednesday to respond and, although many of them refused or failed to reply, nine were subsequently let go - many of them on contracts that were due to expire at the end of June.

Naira Devaluation

The much-vaunted devaluation of the Naira came into force on Friday despite the denial by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last week that same was not on the cards.
The apex bank on Friday sold dollars to deposit money banks at the rate of N380 to one dollar signaling the official return of a single exchange rate regime in the country’s foreign exchange market.
An official circular by the Director, Trade and Exchange department of the CBN, Ozoemena Nnaji, said the development is part of efforts by the apex bank to establish a uniform rate between the official and the parallel market rates for bureau de change operators.
The circular was on the disbursement of the proceeds of the International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO).
With the new rate, the CBN has effectively collapsed the multiple exchange rate policy used in determining the value of the Naira since June 2016.
The country will now have a single exchange rate for official transactions and bureau de change operators as well as for importers and exporters of goods and services, amongst others.
This is the highest official exchange rate between the dollar and naira in the last two years.
Henceforth, dollars sold to banks will be at the rate of N376 per dollar, while banks to CBN will be at N377 per dollar.
Also, the rate by CBN to Bureau de change operators will be N378 per dollar, while BDCs to end-users should not be more than N380 per dollar. and the volume of sales for each market is $20, 000 per BDC.

ASUU STRIKE

What your take on the present ASUU strike?.

Is strike the last resort?
Is the strike improving our lives as student? Or wasting our time?.
Has education in our dear country not turned to a joke?.

Unilorin Joins ASUU Strike? 6 Students Share What This Means For Them

March 12, 2020
Unilorin on strike
Unilorin on strike is something nobody thought would happen. But this is Nigeria, new things happen every day. ASUU declared a 2-week warning strike earlier this week because of their unending beef with the Federal Government, and for the first time in 20 years, the Unilorin chapter of the association complied with the directive and put a stop to all academic activities in the school.
We asked 6 Unilorin students what they think about this development and what it means for them.

1. Noah, Department of Anatomy

It feels like we’ve been scammed. The only reason anyone comes to UNILORIN is because of academic stability. So, it doesn’t make sense that they’ve thrown that advantage away. We were all led here because of the stable calendar. We are clowns.

2. Olatunji, Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development

“Joining the strike wasn’t the right call. The university has always been proud of its academic stability, so it’s a shame that’s no longer a thing. The university’s reputation will suffer a blow, considering that her metric of excellence is tied to “immunity from strikes.”

3. Monisola, Department of English

“We didn’t see this coming. True, we knew that the school joined ASUU last year, but it was unclear if that meant that they would join subsequent strike actions. The school has a long academic stability record, but with this turn of events, it looks like that’s not guaranteed anymore, and of course, this will be felt deeply by the students. We are not used to this.”

4. Akinwale, Department of History

“I’m indifferent about UNILORIN ‘s involvement in this current strike, to be honest. It’s only for two weeks. However, it’s not cool that the present leadership of the UNILORIN chapter of ASUU has defiled a record the school has held for about twenty years. It feels like this will be the first of many strikes.”

5. Ope, Department of English

I think it’s a good development that UNILORIN has joined the strike. In any struggle, you want to present a united front to bolster your prospects of victory. I will admit that it feels strange to experience this for the first time, but it is what it is. The only downside is that nothing will change. ASUU has been doing for a long time and their demands have not been met. So yes, it’s a waste of time.

6. Femi, Department of Chemistry

UNILORIN’s involvement means that students of the university can no longer be sure of when they will graduate. This will change a lot. If the school calendar becomes unstable, there will be fewer numbers of applicants seeking admission into the school. That means lecture theatres will be less overcrowded, and there might be a considerable drop in the number of fresh students being advised to withdraw at the end of each session because of poor performance. That’s just me trying to see SHARE THIS
